Job Description:

Plan, develop and implement Aquatics Programs for individuals with disabilities to include, but not limited to: teaching skill progressions; course and lesson planning; recognizing common skills, errors and providing corrective feedback; motor learning and hydrodynamic principles; fitness and training. Evaluate physical fitness and swimming skill level. Meet the emotional, health and leisure needs of clients through aquatics, leisure, social and/or recreation programs in accordance with all applicable regulatory standards and policies.

Clientele

Individuals involved in NATI's day program, physical fitness, swimming, leisure and recreational programming. Direct supervision, suggestions and review are provided by the Therapeutic Recreational Coordinator through periodic evaluations of job performance, and meetings regarding progress and problems of the Aquatics Program and/or Recreation program. Within parameters provided by above, NATI policies and procedures, Licensure regulations and Medicaid Regulations, the Water Safety Instructor has the freedom to respond to usual and routine program related situations, problems, procedures and personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Degree in Recreation or related field/or High School Diploma and 12 months experience teaching swimming in capacity as WSI.

B. Current Water Safety Instructor certification from American Red Cross.

C. Current Lifeguard Training from American Red Cross.

D. In good health, demonstrating emotional stability.

E. Possess sight/hearing senses to function so that the responsibility of the job can be fully met.

Preferred Qualifications

A. Current Adaptive Aquatics Certification from American Red Cross in addition to WSI Certification.

B. Valid Ohio Drivers License with driving record that meets eligibility requirements of NATI's insurance carrier for insurability and successful completion of NATI's driving course.

C. Demonstrated proficiency and experience in conducting activities in aquatics programming.

D. Experience working with persons with MR/DD and/or other disabilities/special needs
